Inspirational Quotes by Ann Wigmore (American Nutritionist)

Ann Wigmore (1909–94) was a Lithuanian-American holistic health practitioner and raw food advocate known for promoting wheatgrass therapy and the Living Foods Lifestyle. She founded the Hippocrates Health Institute and the Ann Wigmore Foundation, shaping the natural health movement.

Born in Lithuania, Wigmore immigrated to the U.S. as a child. She attributed her early exposure to herbal medicine to her grandmother, which influenced her work. In the 1940s, she began advocating raw foods and wheatgrass, believing they detoxified the body and promoted healing. Her teachings were inspired by Maximilian Bircher-Benner’s natural nutrition theories.

Wigmore authored several books on holistic health, including The Wheatgrass Book (1985,) The Hippocrates Diet and Health Program (1983,) Recipes for Longer Life (1982,) Be Your Own Doctor (1980,) and Why Suffer? How I Overcame Illness & Pain Naturally (1985.) Her works emphasized natural healing, detoxification, and plant-based nutrition.

She co-founded the Hippocrates Health Institute in 1968, which became a leading alternative medicine center. Despite controversy surrounding her claims, her influence on raw food diets and natural healing remains significant.
