Ann Faraday (b.1940) is a British psychologist and dream researcher known for her contributions to dream analysis and self-guided interpretation techniques. She helped make dream interpretation accessible beyond clinical settings.
Faraday earned a PhD in psychology from University College London (1969,) conducting experimental studies on dream recall. She later trained in hypnotherapy, Freudian and Jungian analysis, and Gestalt therapy, becoming a pioneer in the Human Potential Movement. She frequently appeared on radio shows and workshops, promoting dream recording and self-analysis. She also contributed to the Association for the Study of Dreams newsletter, advocating empirical evaluation of dream content.
Her most influential books include Dream Power (1972,) introducing practical methods for dream interpretation, and The Dream Game (1975,) exploring symbolism, puns, and personal meaning in dreams. These works shifted dream analysis from psychoanalytic theory to personal empowerment, encouraging individuals to record and interpret their own dreams.
