Alison Rose Levy (1950–2002) was an American journalist known for covering various areas that impact health, including food, the environment, healthcare, health science and research, activism, media and marketing of health, treatments, public policy, regulation, and legislation.
Born in Yonkers, New York, Alison earned a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.A. in film from American University in Washington, D. C. Throughout her career, she contributed to publications such as O magazine, Organic Style, The Linewaiters’ Gazette, Alternative Therapies, New Age Journal, and several other magazines. She held prominent roles as a prime-time CBS News producing editor, a producer of PBS Public Affairs specials, and a documentary film producer for the Smithsonian Institution. Additionally, she hosted the radio program Connect the Dots on the Progressive Radio Network.
Alison authored What Ails Thee? The Forces Driving America’s Health Decline (2007.) She also collaborated on various books with doctors in the integrative health field, diet, fibromyalgia, and Lyme disease, including the best-selling book The No-Grain Diet: Conquer Carbohydrate Addiction and Stay Slim for the Rest of Your Life (2003.)
