Albert Edward Wiggam (1871–1957) was an American psychologist, author, and lecturer renowned for his work in popular psychology and self-help literature.
Born in Austin, Indiana, Wiggam studied psychology and education at Hanover College, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1893 and a Master of Arts in 1903. Wiggam’s career flourished during the early 20th century, where he wrote extensively on topics ranging from personal development to social issues.
His notable publications include The New Decalogue of Science (1912,) which explored the intersection of science and morality, and The Fruit of the Family Tree (1919,) a psychological study on the influence of family upbringing on individual behavior. In addition to his books, Wiggam contributed articles to popular magazines such as The Ladies’ Home Journal and The Saturday Evening Post, reaching a wide audience with his insights into human behavior and relationships.
Among his other works are The Mark of the Beast (1915,) a psychological exploration of human instincts and behavior, The Prenatal Origin of Genius (1923,) discussing the influence of prenatal conditions on intellectual development, The Jungle of Life (1926,) exploring the challenges of modern society through a psychological lens, and The Peacemakers (1935,) analyzing the psychology of conflict resolution and diplomacy.
