Inspirational Quotes by David R. Hawkins (American Physician)

David Ramon Hawkins (1927–2012) was an American physician, author, lecturer, and mystic. He was a widely known authority on consciousness research and spirituality.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Hawkins served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attended the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, graduating in 1953. For the next 25 years, he was a psychiatrist specializing in schizophrenia and alcoholism. He was the medical director of the North Nassau Mental Health Center 1956–80 and the research director at Long Island’s Brunswick Hospital 1968–79.

In 1983, Hawkins founded the Institute for Spiritual Research, a nonprofit organization committed to consciousness research. He traveled widely as a lecturer on consciousness and the validity of advanced spiritual states. He also founded Devotional Nonduality (2003,) a spiritual course that underscores kindness and compassion, unconditional love, unpretentiousness, and exploration into the nature of existence.

Hawkins’s notable works include Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior (1995,) Healing and Recovery (2009,) Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender (2012,) and Discovery of the Presence of God (2013.)
