Inspirational Quotes by Tupac Shakur (American Rapper, Actor)

Tupac Amaru Shakur (1971–96,) born Lesane Parish Crooks, also known as 2Pac, was an American rapper, actor, poet, activist. He was one of the leading names in 1990s gangsta rap.

Born in New York City, Shakur was named after a revolutionary Incan leader—the name Tupac Amaru is Incan for “shining serpent.” As a teenager, he moved with his family to California, where he joined the rap group Digital Underground.

In 1992, Shakur launched his solo career with 2Pacalypse Now, in addition to appearing in the film Juice (1992.) His fame grew and later albums, notably Me Against the World (1995) and All Eyez on Me (1996,) achieved multi-platinum status.

Shakur was a prominent figure in the intense feuding between the East and West Coast U.S. rap scenes and was often arrested for violent crime. In 1994, he survived being shot by burglars in a recording studio; he died two years later from wounds received in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.

Despite his relatively short recording career, Shakur left an enduring legacy within the hip-hop community. A long succession of posthumous releases of repackaged or remixed music reiterated his popularity.
